My manager tells me to do something near the end of my shift and I do it. By the time I’m done, my shift is over and I didn’t get to finish what I was supposed to do. My manager gets mad that the department looks like shit when clearly I did what he told me to do which resulted in a lack of time to finish closing. I would have stayed a bit longer to finish, but your cheap asses wouldn’t pay overtime so I said fuck it.
The bottom line is don’t go blaming the people under you for your lack of foresight and not understanding that to close a department is too much work for 1 person. The rules of life also apply in the workplace; you take responsibility for your own mistakes and no one else.
Apparently I live on the “ghetto” side of Thorncliffe. My building and the two buildings beside mine were the only ones blocked off by police. While no one was allowed in or out of my area, there were people walking around with their families, not giving a single fuck on the “less ghetto” side. Yes, police presence makes me feel safer, but it is hot as hell outside and having to take the long way and climbing fences just to get home is not cool at all.
